Typhoon Amphan wreaked havoc in India and Bangladesh, killing 84 people

Typhoon Amphan from the Bay of Bengal has wreaked havoc in India and Bangladesh, killing 84 people and injuring dozens.

The powerful typhoon Amphan hit the coast of the Indian state of West Bengal yesterday and caused heavy loss of life and property.

The storm has confirmed 72 deaths in the state of West Bengal.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that due to the storm, roofs of thousands of houses in West Bengal have been blown off and trees have been uprooted.

Water has accumulated in the low-lying areas of West Bengal, for which rescue operations are underway.

Typhoon Amphan also affected three coastal districts of Bangladesh, killing 12 people and injuring several others.

The storm caused heavy rains with strong winds in coastal areas of Bangladesh.
